Since 2012, the Canadian two-dollar coin has been produced using a new composition. The outer ring is now made of multi-ply nickel-plated steel, while the inner core consists of multi-ply brass-plated aluminum bronze. This change was introduced by the Royal Canadian Mint to enhance the coin’s durability, security, and resistance to wear.

Composition:

Outer ring: multi-ply nickel-plated steel,

Inner core: multi-ply brass-plated aluminum bronze

Diameter: 28 mm

Weight: 6.99 g

Thickness: 1.80 mm

The coin in the pictures is a circulation issue in mint state condition.
