In July 2006, the Mint officially introduced a new circular mint mark made of small maple leaves arranged in a stylized pattern, which is known today as the RCM logo. The purpose was not only security, but also to make it clear to everyday users and collectors that the coins were produced by the Royal Canadian Mint.
The 2006 toonie featuring the new RCM logo single date obverse is rarely found in pocket change. Keep it if you come across one – collectors pay more than face value for it.
Composition:
Outer ring: 99+% Ni,
Inner core: 92% Cu, 6% Al and 2% Ni
Diameter: 28 mm
Weight: 7.3 g

The coin in the pictures is a circulation issue in mint state condition.
