In July 2006, the Mint officially introduced a new circular mint mark made of small maple leaves arranged in a stylized pattern, which is known today as the RCM logo. The purpose was not only security, but also to make it clear to everyday users and collectors that the coins were produced by the Royal Canadian Mint.
