2003 Canada One Dollar, Loon, New Effigy ( Uncrowned ), Circulation

In June 2003, the Canadian government announced a new effigy of Queen Elizabeth II for all circulating coins to honor the 50th anniversary of her coronation.


The 2003 Old Effigy ( Crowned ) Loon dollar was not issued for general circulation and is found only in that year’s collector sets.


Composition: 91.5% nickel, 8.5% bronze

11-sided: 26.50 mm

Weight: 7.00 g

Thickness: 1.75 mm

The coin in the pictures is a circulation issue in mint state condition.
