In 1999, the Royal Canadian Mint issued a set of coins from 1-cent to 50-cent, struck on nickel-plated steel blanks to test a new generation of these denominations. Each coin features a “P” composition mark below the effigy of the Queen.


Composition: 94% steel, 3.8% copper, 2.2% nickel

Diameter: 23.88 mm

Weight: 4.4 g

Thickness: 1.58 mm

Edge: Reeded


The coin shown in the pictures is a business strike in mint state condition.
