The 1969 10-cent Large Date is one of Canada’s great modern rarities. Struck accidentally in very small numbers at the Royal Canadian Mint and overlooked for years, it is believed that only about 20 examples are known, with perhaps 20 to 30 more still unconfirmed or in circulation, making surviving coins exceptionally scarce and highly sought after by collectors.

On May 1, 2025, a 1969 10-cent Large Date graded EF-45 by ICCS, with scratch(es), sold for $17,400 CAD at the Geoffrey Bell auction.

Composition: 100% nickel

Diameter: 18.03 mm
