In 1968, two versions of the 25-cent coin were issued: one with 50% silver content and the other struck in 100% nickel.
Hold on to the silver version if you come across one — it contains 50% silver. As silver prices continue to rise, these coins have become increasingly hard to find and are now highly sought after, especially in uncirculated condition. Collectors are willing to pay well above face value for them.
Composition: 50% silver, 50% copper
Diameter: 23.88 mm
Weight: 5.83 g
Edge: Reeded
The coin in the pictures is a silver version issued for circulation in mint state condition.
